The remainder of the crown land, which composed the original vision of the Natural History Society, dating back to 1971, was offered to CVRD to be added to Seal Bay Nature Park in 1995 as part of the Goal Two Protected Area Strategy. |

The park is a large contiguous piece of second growth forest. The land runs in a series of parallel north-south ridges and depressions with corresponding vegetation. There are several (now) rare Alder/hardhack marshes within the park which were reviewed for inclusion as an Ecological reserve prior to being offered to the regional district under the Goal 2 PAS. |
